"If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!" Matthew 7:11 NKJV
Using the example of an earthly father's love for his children, Jesus urged us to absolutely believe that God loves us absolutely.
There have been many times in my walk that I had to deal with circumstances that, from a common sense's perspective, tell me that God did not love me as much as I had thought. But common sense isn't as common nowadays. More importantly, common sense isn't faith.
Jesus' words in Matthew 7, urges me to have it settled in my heart that God is in control over everything. He wants me to fill my mind with the assurance that when something untoward happens, I am sure that "My Father knows that this is happening." This means that I must maintain an attitude of complete trust in Him and dare to seek and ask Him for strength and help.
With that settled, I can then go before God and seek His help unreservedly, whereas in the past, I would go about finding my own solution. This level of trust requires my commitment to believe that He loves me absolutely, despite the circumstances I face.
I can then truthfully and assuredly say, "I am well-kept by God."
Are you?
God bless.

ReplyDeletelike your new look on your blog.
I am always encouraged after reading your blog. One statement strike me -serve when you are led not when there is a need. In the children ministry there is always the need. sometimes I do get discouraged. Am I led to continue in this ministry??
Your sharing for this week - I am totally in agreement with you. But we need to be constantly reminded to place our trust in God. God is sovereign He is in control of ALL situations. Amen.

I am always encouraged by your sharing. This is my second try to leave a comment. Always failed to get lock in. Your statement "serve when you are led not when there is a need". I am always led by the need. mmm.
Your sharing this week I totally in agreement with you but we need to constantly remind ourselves that God is sovereign and He is in control of ALL situations. I was meditating on Romans 8:28. Many things crosses my mind but one thing I need and must know that He is a loving God and sovereign over all.
Hi Maggie,
ReplyDeleteIn the world, there will always be needs. But do what God leads and wants you to do instead of simply responding to the need.
Let's draw an example from our Lord's teaching. When Mary "washed"Jesus' feet with expensive perfume, Judas pointed out that it should be used to fulfill to another need - sell the perfume and use the proceeds to feed the poor.
To this Jesus said that "You will always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me." (John 12:8.
In effect, Jesus was saying, "Let Mary do as she is led, though she may not know, she is preparing me for my burial." (John 12:7 but paraphrased by me.)
There is little impact and certainly no joy if one continues to serve purely out of a need. But let me assure you from my own experience, when you serve according to His plan and will, the joy of the Lord will be your strength, extra-ordinary strength indeed.
Take time off to listen to Him about your situation. He has promised that those who ask shall receive. He WILL answer you.
God bless.
