Surrender is a difficult word to accept.

Oxford dictionary explains it as "to hand over, relinquish; submit, especially to (the) enemy; yield to habit, emotion, influence." It connotes the idea of loosing one's power and rights to another person.

But true surrender does not stop at the giving up of our external life. It goes beyond that. True surrender is the giving up of our will to another person. How miserable it would be if we surrendered our will to another human being; we become his slave!

But that is not the case if we surrender to God. He will never force us or beg us to surrender our will to Him. However, He welcomes and abundantly blesses those who voluntarily surrenders their will to Him. He gives them peace and rest.

That is why Jesus said, "Come to me ... and I will give you rest."

Therefore, a life surrendered to God, is a life that is truly free.

God bless.
