Confidence in God

1 John 5:14-15
14
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

I woke up on New Year's day praying on bed. It was Michelle's and my 28th wedding anniversary. Praise the Lord!

I greeted the Lord with praise and proclaiming that this is the year of spring showers and autumn rains. I felt convicted in my heart that it is going to be a year with abundant blessings, for His glory. Hallelujah!

I was thinking hard on what to share on my first blog for 2010. Then I remembered Selwyn Hughes' devotional article entitled "Blessed assurance". I decided that it would be so appropriate and wonderful that the children of God start their day and their new year with this....Confidence in God.

Indeed, we have the blessed assurance from our Heavenly Father that through our Lord Jesus, we have the confidence, when we approach Him, to ask Him anything and He will hear and answer us.

Of course there is a caveat; that we ask according to His will. Selwyn said, "We pray with our lives as well as with our lips, and when our lives correspond to what our lips say, heaven stands ready to give us what we ask. God hears you, not just what you say."

So, let's walk boldly into 2010 with the confidence that the Lord has given us the confidence to approach God and for His will be done on earth.

Have a smashing and blessed year!

God bless.

  1. Hi Steven

    What a great subject to start of the yer 2010. Confidence in God. Yes, God is our Jehovah Jireh, our provider. The hymn "Blessed assurance" reminds me of His great love, His mercy and His goodness in my life.
    Search up the lyrics to the hymn to sing along.

    Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
    O what a foretaste of glory divine!
    Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
    born of his Spirit, washed in his blood.
    Refrain:
    This is my story, this is my song,
    praising my Savior all the day long;
    this is my story, this is my song,
    praising my Savior all the day long.

    2.Perfect submission, perfect delight,
    visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
    angels descending bring from above
    echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

    3.Perfect submission, all is at rest;
    I in my Savior am happy and blest,
    watching and waiting, looking above,
    filled with his goodness, lost in his love.

    May I wish you, Michelle and all at home God's peace and grace be multipied unto you all.
