Be still

Psalm 46:1-3, 10

1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble

2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

10 "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth."

I just found out that the medication that I had been faithfully taking for my cervical spondylosis has many undesirable side effects. Those side effects caused me to loose my zest for many things that I have been active and interested in before I started taking the medication.

Although I have stopped taking the medication since August, some of the side effects are still apparent. But thank God that I am surely getting better by the day. For one, I do not need the medication to ease the pain any more. Secondly, I have cut my weekly visit to the TCM clinic for over a month already. God is my Healer, praise the Lord!

The Lord has been assuring me and a number of times He has asked me simply to be still and know that He is in control. More importantly, He is saying that He is Jehovah Shamma, the ever-present God who is with me as I go through my situation and He is my help and my refuge.

So very often, we are distracted by many things that take our attention from the fact that He is in control. But the Lord is always there for us. Many times, we "do" more and more while our Abba Father simply wants us to be still and know that He is God and He cares for us intimately. He wants us to rest in His grace.

For those of you who are weary and troubled, I encourage you to simply be still before Him and enter into His rest.

God bless.
