He is Jehovah Jireh

Why are many people, even believers, having so much anxiety and worry during this economic crisis? Like myself, many of them must have been caught with losses in investments in stocks, shares, unit trusts fund and the likes. The drastic drop in the net value of these investments must have set fear in many hearts.

Jobs are being cut. Companies are downsizing. Some worry that they might lose their job. What will happen their family if they were retrenched?

Fear paralyzes. Fear grips and strangles. Fear is the devil's weapon to destroy our faith in God.

In the past months as the economic turmoil unfolded, I was "counting" my losses. One day, as I was on my usual "receiving mode" while I was jogging, the Lord simply told me, "Do not count, I will take care of you. I am Jehovah Jireh, your Provider." A deep sense of peace came upon me that moment and till now, I am still fully satisfied with His assurance to me.

Jehovah Jireh - this name was first used by Abraham when Isaac was saved from becoming a human sacrifice at Mount Moriah (Gen 22:1-14). Abraham's faith and obedience to God was tested to the extreme when God commanded him to sacrifice Isaac. Abraham passed the test with distinction, he did not withhold his one and only son for whom God had declared that Abraham's offspring would be from (Heb 11:17-19). In the place of Isaac, God provided a ram to serve as a replacement. Abraham called that place "Jehovah Jireh" (KJV) or "The LORD Will Provide" (NIV).

So beloved, our LORD Will Provide. Let Him be.

Praise the Lord.
