"... count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. ...do not let sin reign in your mortal body ..."
Roman 6:11-14
I have a confession to make.
I am not without sin. I want to. But I am not yet.
Apostle Paul reminds me that my old man was crucified with Christ, that the body of sin might be done away with, that I should no longer be a slave of sin. (Romans 6:6)
He further admonishes me not to offer any part of myself to sin but rather, to God and offer every part of myself to Him as an instrument of righteousness. (Romans 6:13)
So I am challenged to make a decision that sin MUST die in me, not simply restrained or suppressed, but completely crucified!
It will not be an easy path ahead. Temptations will still come, and I expect them to be even more as I make this commitment. I will not have the strength to overcome these attacks. This leaves me to only one way ahead; I shall call upon Jesus to identify me with His crucifixion and death, until I am certain that sin in me is completely dead!
Let me close by quoting Paul again, "sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace." (Romans 6:14)
Join me.
God bless.
Steven
