"If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need ..... let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth" 1 John 3:17-18
Natural disasters abound in the present times. Many people are affected all over the world. Japan is coping with not just the earthquakes and tsunami but also the nuclear crisis.
Beyond the politics, many Japanese are severely affected. They need food, water, warm clothing, shelter and encouragement to get on with life.
Many of us have witnessed the spirit of the Japanese people. While feeling the pain and grieve, many of them show a fighting spirit and the resolve to get over the crisis. The civility of the people, shown by their orderliness in queuing for food aids, is admirable.
This is the time that Christians must rise up to show what God's love really is.
John clearly taught that we must not just pray for them, but show our love through tangible actions. Last week, I encouraged my cell members to pool in monetary contributions so that we can send it to a relevant organization or a church in Japan to buy what is needed for distribution to the victims.
Let us not have any excuse but move ahead to let the love of Christ shine through us. Let the people know that Christ loves them in very tangible ways.
Do your part.
God bless.
Steven
