What would we do ?

1 Thes 3:12-13
"12May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you. 13May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones.
"

A question was asked during our cell group discussion last Friday, "What would you do if you knew that the Lord was coming back in 30 days."

One member said that he will quickly share the gospel with his parents who are yet to be saved. Another said that he would go out and celebrate everyday and tell others the reason for his celebration. Yet another said that she will live life no differently because she had determined many years ago to live everyday as though the Lord was returning on that day.

Those were all interesting answers. However, what impacted me was how each of us would put what we thought or said into real practice. The fact is that we do not know when the Lord's second coming will be. As such, we need to live today as though He is coming back today. Yes! That means we need to share the gospel with our loved ones immediately, not waiting for an "opportune time". What if we did not share the gospel with and yet the Lord comes today?

It also means that we must celebrate God's love for us everyday and as we do, let those around us know why we are celebrating. By so doing, we have the opportunity to tell them about God's love for us and for them too.

And more importantly, we must live no differently from how we are living today. This means that we have already determined to live today as though it is the day of His return.

Finally, the conclusions in our group's discussion were to love others as Christ loves us, to let those who have yet to hear about His love hear it from us, to put our faith into action by doing good to all who come in to our path.

Let's live as though the Lord is returning today......

God bless.

Steven
