Walking the Gospel Talk

Because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake.
You became imitators of us and of the Lord...... And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia.
1 Thessalonians 1:5-7

After planting the first church in Thessalonica, Paul and his traveling companions had to leave in a hurry because their lives were threatened. Despite their short stay, Paul's group must have lived out the Gospel in the daily lives, so much so that the Thessalonian believers stood firm when they were persecuted even after Paul had left.

Paul attributed their faithfulness to a few factors.

Firstly, the Gospel he brought to them came with power from the Holy Spirit to convict and change lives.

Secondly, Paul and company led by examples - they walked their Gospel talk.

Thirdly, the Thessalonian believers imitated Paul and hence, Christ.

Reading this passage made me reflect on my own life.... How have I lived it so far? Have I walked my Gospel talk daily?  Does my life show the power and conviction of the Holy Spirit? Do those around me see me as an imitator of Christ my Lord?

Someone once said this, "You may be the only Gospel that your neighbour or family may read in their lifetime."

It made me sit up and decide to act.

How about you?

God bless.

Steven
