" 'Well done, my good servant!' his master replied. 'Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.' Luke 19:17
God has given to each of His children talents to be good steward of His kingdom. Each of us, then, is to use these gifts appropriately. If we do, we will be commended. If we don't we will be condemned.
When I first read Jesus' parable of the ten minas (Luke 19:12-26) many years ago, I thought that He was being really mean. He called the third servant who did not make a profit on the ten minas "wicked" and punished him. Of course my thinking then was wrong.
In an article written for Our Daily Bread, C.P. Hia wrote "The primary meaning of this story is stewardship of what we’ve been given. To be faithful with what God has given to us is to give Him our best in return. As the master gave money to the servants in the parable, so God has given us gifts to serve Him. It is we who will lose out if we fail to give Him our best.
Yes, God has given us much blessings so that we are to use them for His kingdom, to spread His Gospel, to love, to care, to comfort, to befriend, to stand up against injustice, and the list goes on. So join me to determine to give of our best to the Master, who has given all of Himself for us.
As Christmas approaches, let us not just get into the frenzy of giving only material gifts. Let us give of ourselves to those around us.
May the Lord continue to bless you richly, as you release your blessings to others.
God bless.
