At some point in my life, I was tempted by the fear of inadequacy. It is a funny fear.
The fear of inadequacy causes one to think of lack, of inability, of incompetence, of failure and of worthlessness. Inadequacy is a self-centered disease. It makes one focus on one's own capability (or incapability) instead of God's given capability.
But praise be to the Lord. He reminded me that He is El Shaddai, the God Almighty, the All-Sufficient God and the God of Enough!
And because He is El Shaddai, I, His creation, is complete. In Him, I have no lack, my ability comes from Him and hence, I am not incompetent.
The first time that God was called El Shaddai is recorded in Gen 17:1-8 when God appeared to Abram and said, "I am God Almighty; walk before me and be blameless. I will confirm my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers."
So, let us be constantly reminded, and especially in these turbulent times, that we have El Shaddai, God Almighty, the All-Sufficient God for us. If you are tempted by the fear of inadequacy, of incompetence or of lack, right now thank God and believe that He is your El Shaddai.
Praise the Lord.
